From the East:
Greetings Brothers,
As this year starts to wind down, I personally want to thank each and every one of you for making my year as Master a rewarding one for me. It was truly an honor for me to serve as your Worshipful Master. For the most part, it was a year that went smoothly with only a couple of minor hiccups, which we were able to overcome easily. We demonstrated once again how a group of determined individuals can get things done. There is one brother in particular, that I must pay special thanks to, as he was a tremendous help to me in fulfilling my term as Master. Brother Terry Letterly has once again gone above and beyond the normal call of duty in ensuring that all of our day-to-day issues were handled in a timely manner. Bro. Letterly has performed the duty of lodge Secretary admirably for the last 3 years, which in itself is a full-time job. It was very reassuring to me, knowing that he was only a phone call away. Without Brother Letterly's assistance and guidance I would have been lost. I would also be remiss if I didn't thank our newest Entered Apprentice, Brother Dan Sands, for his assistance in building and maintaining our new lodge website. Thank you, Dan!
We as a lodge are still doing great financially, and it appears that we are probably going to come in under budget again this year, even with the anticipated expenses of feeding families for Thanksgiving at Casa Mesa Estates again. I would also like to have a Lodge Christmas party again this year for the members and their spouses, as a thank you for all the hard work you've done. That being said if any Brother knows of a nice restaurant that has music or a band (for dancing) to hold this event please let either Brother Terry Letterly or myself know as soon as possible. We would like to reserve something before it is too late.
Lodge elections are coming up in November and it would be nice to see a big turnout for the evening. We will be electing a new Master, Sr. and Jr. Warden, Secretary and Treasurer for the next year. Any Master Mason can run for an elected position provided that he is proficient for that chair. Additionally, any Master Mason can be appointed for a chair. So if you are interested don't be afraid to let someone know. We have initiated quite a few Entered Apprentices this year, and the future of the lodge is yours. With your zeal for Masonry and the dedication you've shown I am certain that Montezuma Lodge will be in great hands for many years to come.
Brothers, I again want to thank you for a wonderful year, and the opportunity to serve you. I hope that all of your have a safe and joyous holiday season, and I look forward to seeing you all in lodge real soon.
Fraternally and Sincerely,
Doug Schassler Worshipful Master 2006 |
